The chem. and structural properties of the MPcs@CS were determined by SEM (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray(EDS), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformation IR spectroscopy(FT-IR), thermogravimetric anal.(TGA) and flame at. absorption spectroscopies(FAAS). This new MPcs@CS is a highly efficient, active and reusable catalyst for the synthesis of cyclic carbonates from promoting the reaction of CO2 with epoxides under mild reaction conditions (at 80 °C and 1 atm CO2 pressure) with good to excellent yield of products. The order of catalytic activity is CuPc@CS, CoPc@CS and NiPc@CS from the conversion, temperature and time point of view, resp.

Despite the high in vitro efficacy of photodynamic therapeutics, lack of tumor targeting significantly reduces their in vivo efficacy and thus limits their clin. use. Photoimmunotherapy (PIT) is a new synthetic strategy to target and treat cancer by photodynamic therapy (PDT). In this study, we describe design and synthesis of a third-generation photosensitizer comprising a PEGylated-phthalocyanine star-polymer photosensitizer that covalently bound to a myeloma tumor-selective antibody (MAb) via the carbodiimide chem. The free photosensitizer demonstrated a min. dark toxicity when tested in mammalian myeloma cell line (SP2/OR); and a moderate phototoxicity after irradiation with non thermal laser red light as a result of light-induced production of cytotoxic singlet oxygen species. Covalent attachment of the photosensitizer (Pc) to the MAb resulted in a significantly enhanced phototoxicity. This is mainly ascribed to the fact that internalization enhances phototoxicity of Pc-MAb bioconjugates. The radioactivated photoimmuno-conjugates 131I(PcMAb) demonstrated the highest phototoxicity to myeloma cells. The suggested bioconjugates are promising candidates as multiple therapeutic models for in vivo treatment of myeloma.

Senegal introduced the infant hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination in 2004 and recently committed to eliminating hepatitis B by 2030. Updated epidemiological data are needed to provide information on the progress being made and to develop new interventions. We estimated the prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in children and adults living in rural Senegal and assessed hepatitis B treatment eligibility. A cross-sectional population-based serosurvey of HBsAg was conducted in 2018-2019 in a large sample (n = 3,118) of residents living in the Niakhar area (Fatick region, Senegal). Individuals positive for HBsAg subsequently underwent clinical and biological assessments. Data were weighted for age and sex and calibrated to be representative of the area’s population. Among the 3,118 participants, 206 were HBsAg positive (prevalence, 6.9%; 95% confidence interval [CI], 5.6-8.1). Prevalence varied markedly according to age group in individuals aged 0-4, 5-14, 15-34, and â‰?5 years as follows: 0.0% (95% CI, 0.00-0.01); 1.5% (95% CI, 0.0-2.3); 12.4% (95% CI, 9.1-15.6); and 8.8% (95% CI, 6.1-11.5), respectively. Of those subsequently assessed, 50.9% (95% CI, 41.8-60.0) had active HBV infection; 4 (2.9%; 95% CI, 0.9-9.4) were eligible for hepatitis B treatment. Conclusion: In this first population-based serosurvey targeting children and adults in rural Senegal, HBsAg prevalence was very low in the former, meeting the World Health Organization’s (WHO) < 1% HBsAg 2020 target; however, it was high in young adults (15-34 years old) born before the HBV vaccine was introduced in 2004. To reach national and WHO hepatitis elimination goals, general population testing (particularly for adolescents and young adults), care, and treatment scale-up need to be implemented. In this report, promising carbon-based novel metal phthalocyanine catalysts were prepared and tested in glucose dehydration at low temperatures (90-130°C) under atm. conditions. Most of the prepared phthalocyanines exhibited high conversions in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). A complete conversion of glucose was obtained over Aluminum phthalocyanine (AlPcCl) and Tin phthalocyanine (SnPcCl2) catalysts. AlPcCl also provided the highest HMF yield (53% in 3 h at 130°C). Al3+ cations promoted the glucose conversion and Cl- anions played an active role in 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) formation. Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as a solvent, was also found effective with phthalocyanines for high 5-HMF yield by stabilizing its structure. Thus, the 5-HMF yield was observed high (53.0% at 130°C for 3 h) over AlPcCl in DMSO. Kinetic studies showed that the optimum reaction temperature was 130°C at 1/5 catalyst/glucose ratio for 3 h. Dehydration reactions, performed in the aqueous phase, exhibited higher fructose selectivities with AlPcCl catalyst.

Dicyano-functionalized benzene and naphthalene anion derivatives exhibit a relatively rich population of electronically excited states in stark contrast to many assumptions regarding the photophysics of anions in general. The present work has quantum chem. analyzed the potential electronically excited states of closed-shell anions created by replacing hydrogen atoms with valence-bound lone pairs in benzene and naphthalene difunctionalized with combinations of -CN and -C2H. Dicyanobenzene anion derivatives can exhibit dipole-bound excited states as long as the cyano groups are not in para position to one another. This also extends to cyanoethynylbenzene anions as well as deprotonated dicyano- and cyanoethynylnaphthalene anion derivatives Diethynyl functionalization is less consistent. While large dipole moments are created in some cases for deprotonation on the -C2H group itself, the presence of electronically excited states beyond those that are dipole-bound is less consistent. Beyond these general trends, 2-dicyanonaphthalene-34 gives strong indication for exhibiting a quadrupole-bound excited state, and the 1-cyanoethynylnaphthalene-29 and -36 anion derivatives are shown to possess as many as two valence-bound excited states and one dipole-bound excited state. These photophys. properties may have an influence on regions where polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are known to exist such as in various astrochem. environments or even in combustion flames.

Gas-phase structures of hemiporphyrazine and dicarbahemiporphyrazine are saddle distorted, in contrast to the planar structure previously found for the solid-state hemiporphyrazine. Doubly charged anionic form of hemiporphyrazine was calculated to be significantly saddle distorted, while the anion of dicarbahemiporphyrazine was determined to possess a planar equilibrium structure. Structural features of the mols. and their doubly charged anionic forms are discussed in terms of AIM and NBO analyses.

In this research work, the optical, elec., and gas sensing properties of Chloroaluminum Phthalocyanine (ClAlPc) thin film have studied. We fabricated sandwich devices of ClAlPc with aluminum electrodes as Al/ClAlPc/Al, using evaporation deposition method in our Laboratory SEM anal. was carried out to determine the morphol., grains size and thickness of ClAlPc thin film. UV-vis anal. of thin film indicated B and Q absorption bands of ClAlPc, and its optical band gap was then calculated 3.24 eV. The current-voltage characteristic (I-V) of sandwich devices at different temperatures proved the ohmic and SCLC processes in the ClAlPc thin film. By plotting the LnI vs. 1000/T graph, the elec. band gap of ClAlPc was obtained 2.88 eV. In the finally section, the gas sensing behavior of sandwich devices in the presence of CO2 was investigated. To determine the temperature of maximum sensitivity (Tmax), the devices were exposed to CO2 gas over the temperature range 300-450 K at a fixed voltage. We found that Tmax = 360 K.

Purpose: To assess the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients undergoing yttrium-90 glass-microsphere transarterial radioembolization (TARE) with and without concurrent sorafenib. Methods: OS and PFS were analyzed in 55 patients with an intrahepatic tumor (IHT) �0% without advanced or aggressive disease features (ADFs), which was referred to presence of infitrative/ill-defied HCC, macrovascular invasion, or extrahepatic disease treated with only TARE (TARE_alone) and in 74 patients with IHT �0% with ADFs or IHT >50% treated with TARE and sorafenib (TARE_sorafenib). Prognostic factors for OS and PFS were identified using univariate and multivariate analyses. Results: Median OS and PFS of TARE_alone patients were 21.6 (95% CI 6.1-37.1) and 9.1 (95% CI 5.2-13.0) months, resp., and for TARE_sorafenib patients 12.4 (95% CI 9.1-15.6) and 5.1 (95% CI 2.6-7.5) months, resp. Better OS was associated with serum AFP <400 (HR 0.27, p=0.02) in TARE_alone, and IHT �0% (HR 0.39, p=0.004) and AFP <400 (HR 0.5, p=0.027) in TARE_sorafenib. Unilobar involvement (HR 0.43, p=0.029) and AFP <400 ng/mL (HR 0.52, p=0.015) correlated with better PFS in TARE_alone and TARE_sorafenib, resp. Adverse events (AEs) were more frequent in TARE_sorafenib than TARE_alone (92.4 vs 80.3%), but only 9.3% were grade 3 or higher AEs. Conclusion: TARE_alone provided the most prominent survival benefit in IHT �0%- without ADF patients who had unilobar HCC and serum AFP <400 ng/mL. TARE and sorafenib yielded the best outcomes in patients with IHT �0% and serum AFP <400 ng/mL, with some addnl. grade 1-2 AEs compared to TARE only.
